本文就是在此背景下,利用金属波导和单轴晶体的一些特性,结合麦克斯韦方程组和波导的边界条件,从三种不同的情况研究了光在对称平面单轴晶体金属波导(波导层是单轴晶体,两个波导界面均为金属)内的传输特性,其主要贡献为,首次解析地得到了这种波导结构下模式场的精确解,并发现了一些有用的特性: ( 1 )模式场的性质因单轴晶体的性质不同而异; ( 2 )当单轴晶体光轴位于波导界面法方向与传输方向构成的平面内时,波导中传输te波和tm波,只不过其主模因单轴晶体的性质不同而异,当波导层介质为负单轴晶体时,波导主模是te波主模,而波导层介质为正单轴晶体时波导主模是tm波主模。 ( 3 )当单轴晶体光轴位于波导面内时,对于正单轴晶体,波导的主模是横电波te _ 0模,任何频率的光波均可激励该模式;当光波波长满足一定条件时,波导内传输单模,否则,将激励起高阶模式,高阶模即匪te波,也匪tm波,而是两者耦合而成的混合模
