Although they were originally mostly considered Aurignacian, the majority are now associated with the Gravettian and Solutrean. Anciennement considérées comme aurignaciennes, elles sont aujourd’hui pour la plupart associées au Gravettien et au Magdalénien.

Among the faunal fossils of the Aurignacian, sixteen mammalian and seven avian taxa are represented. Parmi les fossiles fauniques de l'Aurignacien, 16 taxons appartenant à la classe des mammifères et 7 taxons appartenant à celles des aviaires ont été identifiés.

In the Cantabrian area all Gravettian remains belong to late evolved phases and are found always mixed with Aurignacian technology. Dans la zone franco-cantabrique, tous les vestiges gravettiens appartiennent à une période tardive (évoluée) et sont toujours mélangés à des vestiges de technologie aurignacienne.

On the basis of radiocarbon dating and also the analysis of the archaeological context, some researchers advanced the hypothesis of the association of these bones with Cro-Magnons and the Aurignacian archaeological culture. Sur la base de la datation au radiocarbone et aussi d'une analyse du contexte archéologique, certains chercheurs avancent l'hypothèse d'une association de ces os avec les Cro-magnons et la culture aurignacienne.

The Gravettian culture followed the steps of the Aurignacian expansion but its remains are not very abundant in the Cantabrian area (north), while in the southern region they are more common. La culture gravettienne suivit le même schéma de diffusion que la culture aurignacienne, mais reste assez peu abondante dans le Nord de la péninsule (Cantabrie) alors qu'elle est plus présente dans le Sud.
