After the Subhumans broke up in 1982, Wimpy joined DOA, which now featured Dimwit on drums, who had just been in the Pointed Sticks. Après la séparation de Subhumans en 1982, Wimpy se joint à DOA, désormais avec Dimwit à la batterie.

Dimwit quit the band shortly after their first 7" was released to join the Pointed Sticks and was replaced by Koichi Imagawa, also known as Jim Imagawa, on drums. D.O.A. has its origins in The Skulls, an early Vancouver-area punk rock band that included future D.O.A members Joey "Shithead" Keithley, Brian "Wimpy Roy" Goble, and Ken "Dimwit" Montgomery.
