There is, however, no "official" eastern (Babylonian) targum to Ketuvim, equivalent to Targum Onkelos on the Torah and Targum Jonathan on Nevi'im. Il n'y a cependant pas de Targoum "oriental" officiel pour les Ketouvim, comme le Targoum Onkelos sur la Torah et le Targoum Yonathan sur les Nevi'im.

In fact, the Babylonian Talmud explicitly notes the lack of a Targum to Ketuvim, explaining that Jonathan ben Uzziel was divinely prevented from completing his translation of the Bible. Le Talmud de Babylone enseigne d'ailleurs de façon explicite que Yonathan ben Ouzziel fut empêché par une intervention divine de compléter sa traduction de la Bible.

Secondly, the tradition among Yemenite Jews of memorizing the entire Tanakh made it easy for a knowledgeable individual such as Kuhayl II to sound eminently "messianic" by artfully weaving into his writings (and no doubt into his speeches) verses from the Nevi'im and Ketuvim. En plus, la tradition chez les Juifs yéménites de mémoriser la totalité du Tanakh (la Bible hébraïque), permettait à un individu instruit tel que Kuhayl II de paraitre messianique en mélangeant habilement dans ses écrits (et sans doute aussi dans ses discours), des versets des Nevi'im ou des Ketouvim.
