Losha led the Albanian force against Nikephoros II Orsini at the Battle of Achelous that won him the rule of Arta; he founded his domain around Arta with the help of the Mazaraki and Malakasi clans. In the Battle of Achelous (or Anchialus) on 20 August 917, one of the largest in medieval history, the Bulgarians completely routed the Byzantines and killed many of their commanders, although Phokas managed to escape to Mesembria. La bataille d'Anchialos le 20 aout 917 fut l’une des plus importantes de l’histoire médiévale : les Bulgares défirent complètement les Byzantins, tuant plusieurs généraux; Phocas lui-même parvint toutefois à s’échapper et à fuir à Messembria.

In 1963 he published his first collection of poems, Η κυρία με την πυξίδα (Lady with a Compass) and for the next few years he worked as a supervising engineer in the construction of the Achelous River hydroelectric dam. En 1963 il publie son premier recueil de poèmes, Η κυρία με την πυξίδα (La dame à la boussole) et travaille les années suivantes comme maître d’œuvre à la construction d’un barrage hydroélectrique sur l’Achelos.

Combining this theoretical understanding with extensive experimentation on materials and techniques, he creates gold objects and makes sculptural objects out of gold, bronze, and iron, using the artistic name of Akelo (from Achelous, Greek god of the waters). On the morning of 20 August 917, the battle between the Bulgarians and the Byzantines began by the river Achelous near the modern village Acheloi, 8 kilometers to the north of Anchialus (modern Pomorie) on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast.
