Very little is known of it; it was previously thought to be an outlying population of the western quoll (Dasyurus geoffroii). Il est très peu connu et on pensait autrefois qu'il s'agissait d'une colonie éloignée de Dasyurus geoffroii.

The park has abundant fauna, including some that are rarely seen elsewhere in Queensland, such as the common wombat, spotted quoll, lyrebird and the turquoise parrot.
